Earlier this week I (Robin) went to Innsbruck in the provence of Tirol in western Austria where all the big Alps are. The city is literally surrounded by mountains. It is a really beautiful city, but it was really crowded with tourists. The Golden Roof is a famous landmark in the old town built in the 1490's for the imperial court to observe the goings on in the square below.

The city gets its name from the river Inn that flows through town. Innsbruck literally means "bridge of the Inn."

In the distance (lower hill on the left) you can see the ski jump that was used in the 1964 and 1976 Olympics when they were held in Innsbruck.
