Father's Day Weekend

June 11th is Father's Day in Austria. My dad didn't know this when he planned his trip, so it was a nice surprise. Since it was a weekend, David could join us for an adventure. On Saturday we drove up to the Wachau region on the Danube river and spent the night in Melk.

On Sunday we took a boat ride along the river.

We got off in Durnstein for lunch and then caught the boat back up the river. The ride back is about twice as long because the boat is going against the current and it really slows it down.

The vintners in Spitz claim they can get 57,000 liters of wine from this hill in a "good year."

It was a beautiful sunny day, and the boat ride was the perfect way to enjoy the Wachau.
We drove back to Graz in time to eat a Father's Day dinner at Stainzerbauer. The waiters remembered us from the many other times we've eaten there and welcomed David by saying "ahhh, Herr Sussillo!" and shook out hands! We're definitely regulars there.
... and that was the end of Dad's visit :) We enjoyed your company very much and have many great memories of our adventures!
