Schloss Eggenberg

Robin's dad, David, arrived on Wednesday. Today we went to Schloss Eggenberg which is on the Western outskirts of Graz. We took a tour of the palace which has a lot of symbolisim. There are 4 corner towers that represent the 4 seasons, 365 windows for the days of the year, 52 rooms for the weeks, 12 rooms on each side for the months (not including the 4 corner rooms), and many paintings representing planets, elements, seasons, myths, and history.
They have peacocks roaming around in the garden surrounding the palace.

After touring the palace, we went back into town for a late lunch. We ate at the Glöckl Bräu restaurant and our timing was good and as we ate on the patio we got to see the wooden figures of the Glöckenspiel come out and twirl around at 3pm (they only go 3 times a day). We climbed up the Schlossberg for the panoramic view of Graz.
We took the Schlossbergbahn (inclined railway) down the hill.
